What track tires would you recommend?
I'm getting OZ superlegerras for track use only, 17x8. I'm fairly new to track events, this will be my third but I feel like I could handle an R compound tire. My question is, would a Kumho or Hoosier be okay in the rain or would I want to run my street tires in the rain. How much could I expect to pay and how many events would I get out of the tires. Also, could I drive to events with the track tires (about 60 miles) or is that a bad idea. Thanks.

Victoracers. I also found that running on street tires when its raining is a good opportunity to
understand your street setup, its predictable - either case it sucks lapping in the rain though

experience with Hoosiers, Victoracers and V700, Yoko AO32-R
For the fastest lap in the dry you will want the Hoosiers dry race tire.
For the fastest lap in the wet you will want the Hoosier Dirt Stockers. (They will burn up within 3 laps of the dry. NOT AN INTERMEDIATE WET ONLY)
For an intermediate the AO32-R works great at full tread. in the dry it is 3 sec slower than the Hoosiers in the dry it is 4-5 sec slower than the Dirt stockers
V700 about 1 sec slower than the Hoosiers but last 2 times as long
Victoracer about 2 sec slower than the hoosiers but last 3 times as long
The hoosiers are a full race tire. They willn ot last more than 2 weekends on the track and are certainly not good for the street. They flat spot easily and wear fast. After the first weekend they will be slower as well. If you are using them on the street and the track in the rain and the dry then I would go with the Yoko. AO32-R
Hope this helps
