what's the best air filter induction system?
most places offer K&N, but i know tap offers dtm cone filter system and on the top of this screen Pipecross offers air intake kits too. this would be for an a4 1.8tqm, what makes the most power, that's all i care about. thanks

That's a major bone of contention...
No-one has dynoed any of these intakes, so everything people tell you is simply "butt dyno" impressions.
Can't really trust those...
Personally I'm just dropping in a K&N panel filter to the stock box. Not really for power, but b/c it's time to put in a new one and with the K&N you don't need to keep replacing it.
The Lltek intake allows up to keep the factory cold air snorkel tube which is nice, but I just can't see spending the $250 or whatever it costs for an intake.
Best case scenario an intake gives you 5 hp. That's hardly worth the money it costs to buy one...
Use the cash towards an exhaust system instead...

The best one? It doesn't exist, because there will always be a better one :) but here's what I'm...
looking for. I need one of a pancake kinda design, or like a half dome, and inside it, has a venturi kinda opening with rounded edges (similar to what you would see on a draw thru carburator. Then there will need to be some ducting to the outside world to pick up some fresh cold air.
So, if I don't find one soon, I'll make one out of wood and fiberglass
For now, I am happy with my ABS pipe from home depot and my K&N cone inside my stock air box. I can feel the 15hp it provides :P

ITG carbon fiber airbox...
This is what I currently have on my car and I a very happy with the setup.. It's the same carbon fiber airbox and filter setup that the RS4 Champion racing car has.

info..
Got the setup straight from ITG in europe.. The cost with shipping was somewhere around $390 if I remember correctly.. The setup comes with a foam cone filter, carbon fiber box, hose clamps, air hose tube (to direct cold air to the box) and the air filter element cleaner.
Install was fairly easy.. You do need to purchase the bump silicone hose.
