My car is right near the 50k mark now, and it's a 2000 A4 2.8Q, which means production is probably late 1999. I don't think the spark plugs have been replaced before, and as part of routine maintenance I'm thinking about replacing them. The car doesn't have any engine modifications. What's a good spark plug to replace the factory units? I searched through this forum and most spark plug threads are on 1.8T motors, and suggestions/experiences for the 2.8 motor?

I changed my plugs at 90,000kms - 56,000 miles.
They looked like they needed it when i pulled them out.
You can use these plugs:
From http://www.ngk.com.au
got to the part finder section
1/1997 - on Audi (Auto Union) A4 Quattro 2.8L ACK
Spark Plug Part No. Plug Gap
Recommended Plug BKR6EKUB 0.8
OR the US site:

I replaced mine every 30k just to be safe since they do wear out
I recommend sticking with the OEM. NGK and Bosch make them as well. There really isn't anything really different or special about any of them.
