Re: is it really worth it over a qulaity MBC?
I haven't ran an EBC, but I have ran a few differnent MBCs, and I wasn't very happy.. Its a real pain in the *** trying to get the boost exactly (the MBC is the ghetto way of doing things) where you want it (get out of the car, adjust.. drive... watch your boost gauge.. no good? get back out, adjust... etc).. This can take some time and is annoying.. Then what happens when you throw some race gas in your car? Go through the adjustment process again.. At least with an EBC, you can have 2 settings, one for the track another for the street.. Much easier to setup, IMO...
If I didn't roll over, I would ditched that stupid N75 and installed an EBC.. But whatever...Would have, could have, should not have... Life lessons..

Lets see, 2 step motor vs leaking air valve?
Adjusting on the fly in the car vs stopping and running in front of the car to adjust it without knowing where you end up at.
Now add in the boost alarms an scramble boost for those extra boost hits in higher gears at the push of a button. Being able to adjust the boost % when the turbo starts to get miles on it and the boost drops off a bit.

you can ghetto bench calibrate the MBC
I just took some hose, a cup of water, and set my air compressor to 20psi. Put the wastegate hose in the water. Applied air. adjusted screw set until bubbles came out of the hose. Installed in car... guess what I got for an output?? 20psi!!

Thats a neat trick... but
reread my post.. What happens when you don't know how much boost you are suppose to run? You still have to pull over, pop the hood, get out of the car, adjust it, get back in, do more runs, check all your readings, if it still looks like you can get more out of it, guess what.. Pull over, pop the hook, get out.. And what happens when this is all at night? (been there done that) What happens when you want to go to the track? All this **** has to be done all over and over, and if you change your boost levels at the track what happens on the way home when you run out of C16? You have to get out, drop boost, drive.. no good? get back out, adjust it, drive... Its a pain in the ****....

if you are gonna do that much adjustment then it makes sense to put it in a convenient place
Perhaps near the firewall or even in the cabin.
I'm not saying that a MBC is "superior" to an EBC because it isnt. The EBC can learn behavior and actually help make the car more driveable. BUT the arguement that is inconvenient is really just a limitation of "how you use it"
