Who would be interested in Free/Open Source Mapping/Map Editing Software? (more)

I've been working on a mapping / map editing program with some help from some old programs John Baas wrote a while back for our OpenECU Yahoo group...
Progress has stalled a little as of late, but I'm wondering who might be interested in such a thing. I don't know if we could ever get it to write directly to the ECU (for newer models), but those with access to an EEPROM programmer might have some good use for it.
Anyone interested in using it, or helping out with writing it (or contributing knowledge about the ECU)? Any suggestions for features?
Thanks...
EDIT: Added a screenshot for those who are curious.

im sure there is interest in free software that will let you alter your ecu....
there are lots of cars that have this readily available to them...
some work has been done
http://www.andywhittaker.com/
and there is a european company that markets software already.. they even have it available for DL

now getting people involved in actually doing the work for an opensource solution is another matter...

Sure thing!
Would also be interessted in any info/writeups about what info lies in what adresses of the chip...
We have found where the basics as ignition, boost and fuel is, but missing stuff like idle, fuel enrichment (accelpump), startupenrichment, MAF transferfunctions and so on...
Anyone have info on this?

I have a few maps on there already, but... (more)
Any of the other addresses of important things will help; join up at our yahoo group (see URL below) and post up any info you have about it and I'll incorporate it into the program I'm working on. I'm hoping to post a semi-working version soon (I already have a good start).

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/openecu/

I'm not trying to crack anything (more)
I'm just trying to work on an alternative to other chips for people; this allows people who don't have the money to get a chip (well, as long as they have access to an EEPROM programmer , not to mention that someone who's doing some more advanced tuning could probably benefit from this as well.
Note, I never said shops couldn't use this either...it will be FREE for anyone who wants to use it.
