Who's running an EGT gauge?

Autometer Ultra-Lite
Wtth the street series pyrometer. I like it, it seems very responsive. Do you plan on placing it in the exhaust manifold or after the turbo. I ordered mine through summit racing. Since I have a V6 I am going to relocate my thermocouple from 6" after the collector on the passenger manifold to within 2" of the exhaust port on cyl #2 and add a second probe to the same spot on cyl #5 and have a switch to change between the two probes on one gauge.

Greddy, nice stuff but expensive, data link, internal and external warning set,
telltale recall. I have had it in the exhaust manifold before the turbo and now I am trying it after about 5" down stream.

I'm not sure where to tap it.....
I could mount it in the collector area of the manifold right before the turbo, I would think it would be more accurate (hotter)
I'm curious if they say to mount it after the turbo, only because it's a lot easier to do.
Now that I think about it, I could mount it in the external wastegate block-off plate, this would put it between cylinders 3 and 4.

What do you guys think?

I put mine in after the turbo so I can watch the temps of the turbo and exhaust temps.
When my MAF went dead I knew it right away because my temps that were usually at 1200F degrees shot down to 1000F. Since it was running richer then richie rich himself. I also use the temps on the EGT this way so I can judge when I want to turn the car off after a very hard long run.

Mount it in the blockoff plate...
...because this will give you the most accurate picture of what the turbo is seeing for temps and what your mixture is like in the combustion chamber.
The fact that you are not taking the temp at the collector is unimportant because IMHO, you are really looking for how accurate the tuning is (lean vs rich) and this is one of the best indicators especially if you are going to use an aftermarket engine mgmt package.
