Default Will the TT shifter (5spd) work in a mk4 VW?

I own a 2001 1.8T VW. I'm looking for a short-shifter, and know about the ones from B&M, Neuspeed, Autotech and Deiselgeek.

I've been trying to get some information about the Autotech part -- apparently it's the shifter piece from a 5spd FWD TT, part number 8N0-711-051 (3rd revision, or something like that) but it's just been sanded down and painted black.

Can anybody here please verify the part number for the TT, or (preferably) can you verify that the swap will work?

thanks.

Which piece are you talking about? I can't find that part number.

Sorry, the only info I have is that it's:
8N0711051, from a 5spd FWD TT...3rd revision of the part.

That's all the info I have! the VW parts counter can find it -- what parts list are you working from?

Would you possibly be able to find the part number for the shifter on the 5spd TT (FWD) (ie. is there a handy search feature on ETKA?)

I've been told by a couple of independent sources that the part number is 8N0711051. I'm a bit shocked that it's not correct!

Default Looks right....

The Etka CD I have lists that as the correct part number.

I do a similar mod on the VR6 Corrado lever.

SWEET. Thanks for the feedback!

Are there different part numbers for different revisions of the part? I've been told it's the "3rd revision" but not sure how that relates to the part number.

LarryTT -- U sure it's not on your Etka CD?

And does anybody know if I can use this part with my 2001 Jetta?

thanks!

Default Parts:

Gear shift lever: 8N0 711 112 B
gear shift: 8N0 711 051 - for Fwd
gear shift: 8N0 711 051 C - for TTQ

The search didn't find this part! lol

Default Need to know your vin#...

X-000-001>> have the same style mechanism as the TT. The part is probably cheap, you should be able to figure out how to modify it to fit your 2001 Mk4.
