Have what i can only describe as a peumatic valve noise, like a jack hammer without the metalic aspect, from the stock air box of the A4 1.8T B5 2000 Quattro. it was on and off for a while but now it is constant.

Tried to locate but unsure of its location.

Is this a common problem or have i got a one off faulty valve?

Has anyone got a link to a similar problem?

i believe its #3 in this pic, it has an electrical connection to it as well:
