Won't shift into gears .. stutters
I bought a 2000 S4, and on the same day, all of the sudden I couldn't shift into gears without extreme force, and couldn't get into reverse at all. When I finally got it in first gear, when I would pull away the car would stutter almost like you are not giving the car enough gas. Now I read through some past threads and it seems like the master cylinder is to blame for this type of problem. Is this the case?.. for the stuttering too?
Any help would be great,
Thanks

I'm having the same problem after a clutch install...
My service writer at the dealership is looking into it. I just had my clutch master cylinder and brack booster(part of the hydralic circuit) replaced under warranty.
To me it feels like the clutch isn't disengaging from the flywheel. Try getting the car to roll(with second gear) then see if it will go easier into gear. If so then we have the same problem. I'll let you know what I find out.

Re: I'm having the same problem after a clutch install...
What if you guys rev-match, like you are double clutching? Does that help at all?
The slave cyl on my CQ decides to be flakey sometimes, and won't allow the clutch to fully disengage and the pedal goes to the floor. I have to resort to not touching the clutch pedal, and matching revs so I can get the trans in/out of gears I want. Of course, pulling away from a stop is rather tricky...
