Is it worth it to mod at 100k??
My car is just about at 100,000 miles and I was thinking about a chip...but should I bother?? or should I just go with a stereo..hmm or both??

If you want to keep the car, you have to maintain it anyway . . . so why not mod in the process?
I have 150,000 miles on my 12v, and I have just really begun to mod it. I have new heads and headers, electric fan kit, and snub mount going on in the next month or so.
Thereafter, induction mods: MAF inlet horn, bored MAF, and silicone & aluminum replacement for the OEM rubber accordion pipe.
In between, I will add 17" wheels and likely a strut bar.
I plan to keep my car at least for 300,000 miles; at that mark, I will decide if I want to re-work the internals or whatever. While the 12v is a work horse engine that usually refuses to die, the 1.8t and 30v also have long legs, but like any machines, no matter what you do, moving and pressure-stressed parts wear out.
Accepting that I need to do major maintainence every so often to keep it going like new, I try to do maintainence preventatively rather than waiting for things to fail.

good motor builders wnat to start with a block that has a lot of good miles on it. They want to make sure it is well "seasoned"
While doing mods, go through and do a good head job, and you'll be just fine.

I just did a turbo upgrade at 118k and it runs better than a new one. ;-)
These cars just break in at around there, IMO. Audi builds strong blocks, as long as you don't abuse them..and the 1.8T block is especially strong. Might want to keep on top of boost hoses and bypass valves, etc.
