Default Define "worthwhile"

On my motor worthwhile was, "do we spend $4K on shaving and rolling the head to change the geometry of the combustion chamber, and raising the compression ratio to gain maybe 20 more HP?"

The answer was "yes"

Default I dont think the cost/hp is going to be all that great.

Schrick cams are not really that cheap and I am not sure how much gain there really is on a stock 1.8t.

BTW if you do go schrick you will also have to buy a adjustable timing gear since the schrick cams come off by 2 deg and will not line up on their own.

Default I am talking about the top sprocket

that connects the timing belt to the cams. The teeth on the schrick cams are off a little and the cam/timing gear had to be added to make sure the cams were lined up correctly. Here is a picture of the motor with the new sprocket installed.

Default Not with a K04....

Cams provide more upper RPM HP, at the expense of low end power.

So with a set of cams, you could flow more air in the upper RPMs, but the K04 can't provide any more air without overspinning, so your not getting any real benefit from them.

You want more ooomph, get a bigger turbo, or NOS

Default Re: I am talking about the top sprocket

I think Piper cams don't need the cam gears.

Oh yeah amazing pulls past the 5000 rpm with a T04 turbo..
