Default Writeup on the 1.9L Custom Turbo'd A4

Ok my car is about 99% finished.

Here are some specs right now, it is currently a 1.9L 8.5:1 compression motor with forged pistons, rods etc. The turbo is a custom turbo (capable of 550+hp) and will be controlled by Autronics standalone and Autronics CDI Ignition.

In the pics you can see that the only thing missing is the intake, some hoses and the ignition module. Intake should be going on end of this week, the car was supposed to be fired up
last week but we ran into the problem with ignition. The Autronics has an option where it can run the stock coils, but the one I got wasn't configured for it, so I ended up having to buy
the Autronics CDI ignition for it. In the picture for the gauges, it is not glued in yet, and the buttons for each gauges are not mounted as well. The throttle body hoses and other small miscellaneous hoses are off the car. The ignition should be in the car by Friday. The Autronics brain is mounted where the old ECU box was.

The car was converted over to non-dbw and all my accessories for the car will work except cruise control, abs, traction control (autronics takes over that now), and obviously my old
gauge cluster since it's gone now lol.

Here is a list of mods for easier reading.

1.9L motor (bored)
8.5:1 Compression
Forged Pistons
Forged Rods
Knife Edged

Custom Manifold (thick gauge steel)
72lb Siemens Injectors
Custom Turbo (Ball Bearing 550+ HP sufficient)
Autronics Stand Alone Engine Management
Autronics CDI Ignition
Custom Dash with all SPA digital gauges
Custom Intake
3" test pipe to 2.5" all the way back exhaust
Electric Fan Kit w/ Pulley removed
Custom Intercooler
Nitrous on intercooler
Converted to Non-DBW (Pedal set, throttle body, throttle cable)
Dual Clutch
Polished Valve Cover =)
Polished Intake Manifold =)
Removed Smog Pump

For the future most of the fuel lines I will switch over to braided, and most likely have to replace my fuel pump, rail, regulator as it might hit its limits. The engine right now is not very
tidy, the car has been in the shop for quite a long time, and I plan on making it neat and clean!

Default i feel like an A$$HAT for asking this but...

where is the 4th pipe on the exhaust manifold? i can only see 3 in that pic and i would imagine it is an equal length manifold so i would think you could see the 4th one but i dont see it.

just curious

Default Very Nice. Don't the stock DBW coils have the igniters built into them?

I was under the impression you couldn't run a CDI box on a coil that has igniters built into it.

Just something to look out for.

I was doing some research on CDI boxes, because I want to get rid of the Bosch POS (Igniter) on my car.

I was looking at the AEM CDI unit, I'm not sure if even the nonDBW coils will work. The AEM CDI box has two wires to hook up to each coil, but the nonDBW coils use 3 wires.

So I'm looking into using some "alternative coils" If you're interested in what I've found so far, then shoot me an email.

Default Yes you are right...

The stock ones have them built into the coils. My options were to either go with MSD and run their coils or go with the Autronic's CDI unit and run the older coils. This is the route that I ended up going. The MSD would have been alot cheaper, but I figured I went this far, might as well have it matching.
