I'm having problems with my t5 intake being extremely loud and I asked for some advice on the a4 forum, I'm just posting it here cause these threads stay around longer and get better responses. Are you using the stock cover on top?
Maybe you can try to get some sort of insulation or paneling around it. This will help quiet it down a little and keep the heat away.
