Thanks...
I was expecting Mintex Red Box but I was shipped KFP Magnum Silver pads with the kit. I never heard of these pads but this is all I could I could find out about them right now:
"Average coefficient of friction .380. Moderate torque, rotor friendly, high performance street material, which offers the fade free performance of a racing material. Does not cause the noise and rotor damage of a pure racing material when used cold. Recommended for arrive in your vehicle events, such as autocross and solo competition. Also an excellent sport utility and support vehicle material. No insulator."
So far, all I can say about them is that threw off a lot of dust when I bedded them in. I'll wait until I put on a few more miles before I comment on the performance. I'm still debating whether or not to get a set of track pads when I go to Buttonwillow though...

The machine shop that slotted your rotors...
Do they have previous experiences slotting rotors. My understanding is that the slots should not be exteded all the way to the edge. Greater potential for cracking. Then again, I may have been misinformed. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks.

Hmmm... I dunno...
I didn't ask how much experience the shop had and did not think about cracking at the edge of the rotor. When I was researching cross-drilled vs. slotted rotors, I didn't come across any info concerning cracks appearing at the edges of slotted rotors. Everyone warns about cracks that could appear with cross-drilled rotors though.
I guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for cracks. Thanks for letting me know...

Re: Thanks...
Not surprised you got other pads -- I've heard the Mintex Red Box are on crazy back-order for the Boxster caliper right now. Let us know how you like the KFP when you put a few more miles on.

I've had slotted rotors on my car for 2+ years and...
never had a rotor crack. My rears have are Powerslot so they don't extend to the edge. My A4Q fronts were slotted to the edge as are my A8Q (Sys1) rotors. If anyone is going to generate enough heat for a failure it will be me and it hasn't happened yet.
