Default Just got my pistons in yesterday, the short block is completely assembled as of now....

In case you missed it, JE machined the pistons wrong, so they had to make me new ones.

The main thing holding me back is the timing belt/tensioner. Tomorrow I'll be hitting up some parts stores to see if I can find a longer belt. If not, then It's time to get creative with the tensioner mounting.

If I get that issue solved, I should have it up and running by Monday. If not, I can at least bolt the motor in and take care of all the other things (making a downpipe, making some brackets, etc)

Either way, I'll have a motor in the car for the first time in four months

Default

Can't recall but didn't you have to rethink the oil paths in the block??

Default The head had 5 oil returns on one side, and two on the other....

The block only had spots for 2 oil returns on each side. I ended up plugging the 3 oil returns on the exhaust side in the head.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the oil pressure once it's running.

Default You plugged 3 of 5 returns?

I know NOTHING about building a motor, so help me out here - did you have to enlarge the other two returns or sum'n?

Default 3 of 7 returns......

there were 5 on the exhaust side, and two on the intake side.

Now there are two on each side.

Gotcha. Did they need to be enlarged or anything?

Default I wouldnt think so...

..since the block was designed to use only two oil returns on each side.

Default That block was not designed for the 20V head...

...which has much higher oiling needs with all of those valves. He "should" be OK with four, but will need to keep an eye on things to make sure the oil is not backing up in the head which would cause the pickup in the pan to go dry and....voila, not oil pressure in a very, very expensive motor.

I'm sure that John will keep an eye on things.

Default why didn't you just bore out your old block??

CMH's car is currently being converted with the OEM block bored out to 2.0 well slightly larger than 2.0. but why did you decide to get a new block to use with the head???

what crank did you use?
