xr4tic - what's up with the motor?
#2
Just got my pistons in yesterday, the short block is completely assembled as of now....
In case you missed it, JE machined the pistons wrong, so they had to make me new ones.
The main thing holding me back is the timing belt/tensioner. Tomorrow I'll be hitting up some parts stores to see if I can find a longer belt. If not, then It's time to get creative with the tensioner mounting.
If I get that issue solved, I should have it up and running by Monday. If not, I can at least bolt the motor in and take care of all the other things (making a downpipe, making some brackets, etc)
Either way, I'll have a motor in the car for the first time in four months

The head had 5 oil returns on one side, and two on the other....
The block only had spots for 2 oil returns on each side. I ended up plugging the 3 oil returns on the exhaust side in the head.
I'll be keeping a close eye on the oil pressure once it's running.

That block was not designed for the 20V head...
...which has much higher oiling needs with all of those valves. He "should" be OK with four, but will need to keep an eye on things to make sure the oil is not backing up in the head which would cause the pickup in the pan to go dry and....voila, not oil pressure in a very, very expensive motor.
I'm sure that John will keep an eye on things.

why didn't you just bore out your old block??
CMH's car is currently being converted with the OEM block bored out to 2.0 well slightly larger than 2.0. but why did you decide to get a new block to use with the head???
what crank did you use?
