Default ALCON, appreciate all the DSLR advice

Had to do some shopping at Costco this evening and spotted one of their D90 deals in the store. For $1299 the package includes an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR, a 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR, a camera case, a 2GB SD card (to which I added two 4GB SDHC cards) and a bonus DVD, Nikon School's "Understanding Digital Photography."

Now begins the journey!

Default Enjoy the new toys. Few more things>

Get a great monitor, calibrate the sucker, invest in fancy software. Only another 2K to go before decent images. Just kidding unpack and go play !

Default Haha

This is right up there with car and firearm modifications. No end to the amount of stuff you can start buying right off the bat. I'll be holding off on anything else until I get this thing sorted out. Thanks to the wife, we have Photoshop CS installed on all of our computers (she's a graphics designer) and I'm working with a Dell 24" monitor. Going to rack out tonight and start the unpacking tomorrow. Fun times. A combination of the camera and something else I purchased recently at Costco has landed me two 50 free prints coupons. Only good for 4x6's, but I'll have an idea soon enough of whether I'm off to a decent start. All those photography books I picked up years ago in anticipation of buying a DSLR are now calling my name!
