Default Any tips for shooting a sunrise?

I'm looking to capture sunrise at the ocean with a pier in the shot as well. I'm not sure if the pier is lit at night or not, but I assume it is.

Anyway ... I'm getting there at 5:45 or so.... I expect to have 25 minutes to setup before the sun creeps up.

Default Shooting into the sun is always tough. I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

Generally speaking, smaller aperture, longer exposure. Use either spot or centerweighted meetering. I took these this past fall up in the blue ridge mountains. Not too much sun at this point but the sky was pretty bright and I was shooting straight into it.

Default cool....

I found these 2 articles interesting...

seems like the general theme for 'low light' photography was

ISO 100
10-20 second exposure
aperture f15-22

This should be fun!
