Default How much should I charge for a disc instead of prints for a client?

I have a photoshoot for a family scheduled for the end of March. I gave them my standard pricing for a portrait package including prints. They don't want the prints though, just a disc with the pics on it. Should I charge less since they're not getting any prints? Or do I keep it the same since they'll be making their own prints of my shots? Thanks for any help guys!

Default a bit less - the actually prints isn't worth that much - most of it is in labor

in the picture and the editing

Default so you normally deliver digital images and prints and that's what you quoted?

yeah, then marginally reduce for digital only. The work was in taking the pictures and processing. If printing is a relatively small percentage of your time, quote accordingly, and emphasize anything you do to ensure the print is accurate. The small difference in cost might not be worthwhile if you can deliver a better print than Walmart.

Default No I never deliver digital images. Just prints.

That's why I don't know what to charge for just giving them all the files on a disc.

Default I'm curious on this now too...as im talking with a buddy about doing some event work

Although i suppose event billing is very different...but we assumed as a photog, i would be charging for time at the event..and then time editing the disk of photos, depending on how many 'keepers' were produced...

Default Without understanding the entire pricing model that you've already delivered, it's hard to say.

I'll assume you have some base rate that covers the shoot, and that you'll typically make $100 profit off of print orders.

I'll assume you've already quoted them the base rate, and now the difference is only in charging for a CD vs. prints.

My own inclination (not standard practice as I have little interest in whatever that is) would be to charge them $200 for the CD. If their motivation is to avoid print costs, this would probably make them think twice. If their motivation is to have the digital "negative" to archive, well, that's worth a little more than your average print profit, but not so much as to send them running.
