Default Need Recommendations on Best P&S, thin camera with great optical zoom......

Just trying to help someone at work. She thought getting high MP would solve her grainy pictures. Most of the little thin P&S have the 3x optical. Is there one that has much better range of optical zooms?

Default No, being thin means they can't fit much lens in the body

Therefore not much zoom. See my link one post down for your research.

Default Try this one - it doesn't look too intimidating

there are other P&S cameras with much higher zoom range, but they look more like an SLR.

However, if she wants less grainy pics, the easiest solution is to get closer to her subject, and shoot in good light. Oh and make sure she's got the camera set to its highest native resolution. Some neophytes set the jpeg size to basic or small, thinking they can get more pics per memory card that way.

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0901/09012706panasonictz7.asp</a
