Default Nice! You don't see those too often.

Especially around here, haha...

Default Speaking of shuttle

A buddy on the Canadian section is planning on watching or would like to watch the launch. Given that the viewing spots that NASA sells is all sold out, anywhere else a good place to watch?

Along the Indian River on U.S. Highway 1, especially in Titusville.

The Beach Line Expressway, also called State Road 528. The portions of the Beach Line crossing over the Indian River (the Bennett Causeway) and the Banana River are good vantage points.

Off State Road A1A along the Atlantic Ocean in Cocoa Beach.

Jetty Park (321) 783-7111 at Port Canaveral, on the Atlantic Ocean just south of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station border. Both Space Shuttle and expendable launch vehicle liftoffs can be viewed from here. The park is open all day year-round.

Default Sand point park is pretty good...

Although you can find all sorts of small parks along Rt.1 that will give you a great view of the launch across the river.

Sand Point Park is toward the top of the map, but all along the coast is good.

Default See my advice here

Unfortunately Google Maps is currently messed up and even though the embedded links to the exact locations initially jump to the right place, the map then immediately changes to the closest place with street view. A bug has been logged into the internal Google system about the problem, but who knows when they'll fix it...

http://www.phototrek.org/Travel/STS-93/exposure.html</a

Default Three options

Either be press, or have friends. Or work there Neither of the three guarantees anything, though. Press accreditation is the best way, but the rules are quite strict. Security clearance is a must for either option.
