Default phew...

thought I'd lost my RRS uber light ball head. Then I found it. Had been carrying it and my uber light gitzo tripod for a few days skiing and when I was unpacking there was no head on the tripod. Doh. For the life of me I swore it was screwed on there. Fvck it could be anywhere under 50 feet of snow by now. Turns out I wasn't dumb enough to actually leave it on the tripod after all and it was snugged safely away in a small pocket on my pack. It's like hitting the little lotto.

Default How do you "lose" something that big? I can see looking away and it getting swiped...

or dropping it down a cliff or something..

Default I did leave my camera bag somewhere...once. Never realized it until I drove past it. :-P

I was at New Jersey Motorsports park shooting a few friends at an event. I left the bag with a 24-70L on the side of one of the bridges as I ran off towards a lower fence for a better angle. I continued running around the facility that afternoon, and totally forgot I left the bag there. I just happened to drive past that bridge and saw a couple of park employees eyeing that bag suspiciously. As I got closer I looked at it and thought "that looks like my camera bag!". 2-3 seconds later my brain rewinded to the moment when I put the bag down there, I jumped out of the car and yelled "That's mine!". *phew*

I'm usually pretty mindful of where I'm putting my equipment, but I do tend to get focused when I want a shot, and block out everything else, including common sense. This is why I don't shoot on snow covered cliffs. You'd find me at the bottom somewhere with a black eye...clutching my 1D.

Anyway to tether it to the tripod? If it happened once, could happen again without the luck.
