Default Traveling with gear question...

I have a trip to Seattle coming up and would like to take the camera and tripod with me. The camera is not a problem for me to take on the plane, but does anyone know if the airlines have an issue with taking a tripod as carry on? If they make you check it in, what is the best way to ensure it does not get damaged? TIA

Default why not stow it? Id imagine that might be annoying to deal with in the cabin?

i really have no insight on this. I rarely fly.

Default Well the main reason is...

Since I am only traveling for 2-3 days I usually take a soft/light travel bag. I was worried about the tripod getting damaged/bent if the baggage was handled poorly. I suppose I could take a hard roller case and check it in, but it would be just as simple if I could carry on the tripod.

Cool thanks! Just wanted to make sure the security wouldn't freak out when I ran the bag through

If it's got metal spiked feet, it may be a problem, other than that, it should be okay.
