Default Why does my son (toddler) insist on sticking his finger on the lens

It is so irritating.

He will sneak up beside me when I'm shooting pics, and smudge whatever he was eating onto the lens and leave finger prints or smears. Otherwise, when I'm taking shots of him he will quickly run/lunch at the camera and stick his finger on the front of the lens.

I feel like I need a LCD screen protector on the front of my lens. Then I would be able to quickly peel off the dirty one, and slap on a clean one.

So.. anyone have a favourite method to get finger prints off the lens or UV filter?

Default It's normal. Just get a microfiber lens cloth, and be done with it.

don't use aggressive cleaners on lenses. Just a puff of breath, and the MF cloth.

Default Well, at least it's not in his nose!

Put a filter on each lens, and wipe it clean when he does it. Honestly, if it's a game to him, he thinks your reaction is funny or what he's doing is funny. Either way, he'll continue to do it. You don't want him to associate the camera with a bad reaction on your part, but he still has to know his bounds.

Default Agree on microfiber

I gave up a long time ago. When around kids (or rather, the lenses that are exposed to the kids on a regular basis) I put a filter on the lens (otherwise never) and deal with it. Other camera components are very easy to clean, and if the filter were to get completely gooped up, I'll just get a new one.

that's a good point that I didn't think of. I should probably put it on.
