Default Air Conditioner Issue - Design Flaw

So I have an 2018 Audi Q3 that I hardly use. I took it for it's very first service about 2 weeks ago and a couple days later the air conditioner stopped working. I took it into the dealership and they told me that some debris had gotten in through the front grill and hit the condenser. They are refusing to pay for it as this is not covered by the warranty, however, I have read various articles from the UK (https://www.theguardian.com/money/20...ioning-failure) stating that this is a design flaw that has been documented back to 2014! Anyone with a Q3 with this issue?

We have a 2019 Q7 and they are telling us the same thing. Said a rock or something must have hit it. $1736 to replace

This can happen to ANY car! See if your comprehensive insurance will cover it.....

Pretty much any car on the road is vulnerable to this damage...

But, but....
It's a design flaw so somebody else has to pay for it.
Did the OP look into his auto insurance policy? This should be the same as a rock thru the windshield.

I slip a cut piece of galvanized screen with 1/4" square openings in front of my AC condenser. Pretty much invisible too.
Keeps the bugs from really getting wedged in and has stopped all rocks from damaging my AC starting with my 2011 Q5.
Grill openings are getting bigger with newer cars, probably a good idea to do now more than ever.
