Does anyone know if and when Audi will upgrade the engine and transmission in the Q3. The new VW Tiguan will have an 8-speed auto, so I think Audi should be stepping up soon. Thanks

We careful what you ask for. Almost every 8 and 9 speed automatic in modern cars gets poor reviews. The Land Rover Discovery Sport, Jeep Cherokee, Toyota Tacoma- all have complaints. The Honda Ridgeline has a six speed auto and no issues.

FWIW, the Tacoma has a 6-speed automatic. In terms of Audi's with the 8-speed Tiptronic, I am into my second A6 with this tranny and so far there have been no issues beyond the programming that determines shift points, etc. The transmissions themselves are pretty bullet proof. I jsut realized taht the lastest Q3 have a DSG transmission, which I guess is a good thing.

I would not want EVER an 8 or 9 speed transmission.

Leave that to granny's cars

6 speed STRONIC is the way to go, THAT is the upgrade.

THE R8 has a 7 speed STRONIC, now that is a transmission

Porsches also use PDK transmissions, so I'd always go that way

but whatever works for you
