Default Proximity sensors and my trailer

Hello,

3 weeks ago I purchased a second hand Q3 2015 and last week, I had a hitch installed for towing my trailer. My trailer is a 5' x 8' closed box with a door at the back.

Yesterday I took the trailer out for the first time and all was great except one thing: When I went in reverse to park the trailer, the proximity sensors were constantly beeping. I think the sensors are mistaking the front of the trailer for a wall.

Is there a way to change the sensitivity/range of these sensors?

Thanks.

My understanding of this matter is that you need a trailer hitch that is compatible with the car and can be coded properly. Then when you plug in the trailer harness, the parking sensors get disabled automatically.
