Default What wheel size to get 2019 Q3

I’m thinking of getting a 2019 Q3 when it comes out, though I’m pretty tired of waiting. My dealer told me the 2019 Q3 will have 18” wheels with 235/55 tires and the S line will have 19” wheels with 235/50 tires. My desire is to have tires that will be good on snow and rain and will provide a comfortable ride. Any thoughts as to which would be better for me? I know nothing about tires. Also, I’ve never had an Audi before. My last 2 vehicles have been Acura RDX’s but I thought I’d like something smaller. Q3 is at the top of my list right now but I’m also looking at Volvo XC40. Might have to start looking around for other vehicles if Q3 doesn’t come out soon or if it is lacking features I want.

The price guide listed on another thread states the 18" tires will be 235/50/18's. Both sizes of tires will work just fine on snow and rain as Quattro AWD is standard. Also with Audi drive select is standard equipment, you can change the driving modes to change the suspension feel. Say from comfort to dynamic. Though will need to confirm once the vehicles hit the lot. So IMO, go with the styling you like and the price. One glaring item that isn't listed in any of the documentation is there are no functions of memory on seat position.

Thanks for all the info. I just joined today so I will look thru all the threads. I will have to decide if I can do without some of the features I have now on my RDX such as memory seat, remote start, ventilated seats (which I’ve never used!) that I don’t believe Q3 will have.

The posted order guide PDF shows conflicting info for the 18 inch tire size. I think the label on the picture of the wheel is wrong, where it lists 235/50 R18. The full listing of specs shows 235/55 R18 in the base model, with 235/50 R19 and 255/40 R20 tires listed in various options. These all produce roughly the same tire rolling diameter of 28.0-28.25 inches, which makes sense. The 235/50 R18 size of the older Q3 is an inch smaller at 27.25 inch rolling diameter, which seems unlikely in a factory configuration.

In general, I would say that the smaller wheel with taller sidewall may give a more comfortable ride. It will also generally be faster and provide better mileage, because the smaller wheel usually reduces the rotational inertia of the wheels. It will obviously have a different cosmetic appearance. I think different brands/models of tire might have more impact than the slight difference in sidewall height as far as handling is concerned.

Thanks for your thoughts. Anxious to see Q3, whenever that may be.
