I have had the TDI for almost a year. I have never really turned this feature off. It was IMO very easy to get used to. In city traffic it seems pointless, because it is stop and go, but for those long lights it pays off.

I have it in my US based 2014 TDI. I believe it is on all US Q5 except for the 2.0.

Depending on region it either temporarily or permanently disables the feature. (In the US it's permanent, not sure about Canada.)
According to Audi Canada's page on the feature, they say it's on the A6/7/8, no Q5 listed, but it's never seemed like Audi Canada gives very good info on their site so who knows for sure.
Keep in mind there's also the engine start/stop button for vehicles with the advanced key feature, and so there can be some confusion when communicating about the features (the sales guy may have been talking about the push-button start rather than the engine auto-stop).

If you have it, you should have a button on the center console (under the radio unit) that looks like this:

We know that US SQ5s don't have it, and it's a good assumption that Canadian ones don't either, but as I'm not Canadian and Audi Canada's online info is generally useless, it's entirely possible that it did for some reason or other. I want to say that I remember hearing that our 2015 SQ5 was getting it, but since Audi USA screws up info, too, it was likely a misprint if it was indeed in the PIB or whatever.
