'15 SQ5 vs '14 SQ5 fuel economy

As I understand it, the options and option packages in Canada have very subtle changes (or just change the names). Audi, however, delivers the same things for all of the Americas, not just the U.S. From what I've read, every place on these two continents get the same stuff. For instance, you cannot get the SQ5 in bi-turbo setup anywhere in North or South America. It's as if they don't want certain things over here, like the RSQ3, TTRS, and all of the Avants.

I have the start/stop in my US based 2014 Q5 TDI. I initially didn't like it but as I've gotten used to it I usually keep it on. If I am around town and know we have a lot of traffic around stop sign streets I hit the off button and it's off. I turn it back on when I'm more in the clear. The more I drive with it around town the more used to it I get and even know ways to not get it to turn off with the pressure of my braking.

How do you guys feel about the start/stop option? I think I've had it twice in rental cars and I'm definitely not used to it, so I did not like it when driving those rental cars. Besides getting used to the idea of your car dying at every signal light, are there any negatives to this start/stop technology?
If I lived in an environment with few stop signs and lots of long signals, I can see the eco-benefit. But that's not what I typically encouter.
