2,0 TFSI front brake rotors 320 or 345 mm
Hi People,
I have Audi 2,0 TFSI Quatro from 2009. In near future I must replace front brake disc and pads. Looking into ETKA I find that in this version exist two front brake disc sizes :
320 mm for 1LA version
345 mm for 1LJ version
They have same brake caliper 8K0615123D, different brake pads 8K0698151L for 345 mm and 8K0698151C for 320 mm and of course two different brake disc sizes 8K0615301A for 320 mm and 8K0615301M for 345 mm. I have the version 1LA witch 320 mm brake disc standard. My question is if is possible switch into 345 mm system. Logically they must be some other mounting bracket for brake caliper (which is same in booth systems) – so changing this bracket all other should be OK (of course witch bigger disc and proper pads). Can anybody verify this “not professional” idea ? What exactly must be change to switch from 320 into 345 brake disc system ?
Peter

I remember somebody posting the exploded diagrams of the brake components but I came up empty with a search.
You'll at least need different carriers, maybe more. Or dive in head-first and convert to SQ5TDI 380x36mm rotors! Seriously, i'll probably look at ECS or Stop Tech (via Zeckhausen Racing) for aftermarket cross-drilled and/or slotted rotors when the time comes. I believe they both carry 345 mm versions.

Parts diagram
Here is a link to one: http://www.jimellisaudiparts.com/sho...category=21741
They typically sell at list. Places like AudiUSAParts.com or some other dealer connected sites often discount.
No guarantees w/ out a prior install confirmation, but yes it probably is just a bracket difference from a glance at the parts diagram. Pretty common Audi practice to use the same caliper across a lot of Audi applications, and then vary the bracket and rotor and (sometimes) pads to do different sizes. Same on my A8 for example as between the W12 + S8 with bigger rotors, and then the 4.2 with the base U.S. size.

Yes, this can be achieved with a different caliper carrier and perhaps new bolts but that should be it. Spijun would have the EKTA digrams.
I almost went this route... if it weren't for those RS4 BBK's that changed my mind

Hi people,
thank you for your informations. In fact this looks that the difference is only the caliper carrier (position 2 on this picture). All other parts (except of course disc and pads) are witch the same numbers - so are same. I check on my market what is the price of this 2 elements (right and left carrier) - to have idea if this change is sensible from cost side. I have just only one anxiety - if the brake pipes (not shown on this PDF diagram) are same (witch the same length) because this can be also maybe some difference.

I only must now chose the brake pads... what is not so easy witch so many producer on market (TRW, BREMBO, Textar, Ferodo, Bosch....)
P.S. your English is at least so good as mine.. because this is generally English forum I use English.. but I understand also German
