Default 2013 3.0T brake kit

I have a question about the new Brembo brakes on the 2013 3.0T. I'd like to put these on my 2012 because they have less dust and have more stopping power. Can someone provide a list of parts that are required to retrofit these onto the 2009-12 model 2.0T?

Here are some key differences:

2011-12 2.0T: 320mm front disc, 300mm rear disc, 119-ft stopping distance @ 60mph (per Edmunds)

2013 3.0T: 345mm front disc, 330mm rear disc, 109-ft stopping distance @ 60mph (per Edmunds)

What model is this on? I've never heard of the 380mm front discs.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just noticed it says SQ5 which obviously isn't available in the US. Not interested in this - just want the dustless brakes from the 2013 US-spec Q5!

You could look at replacing with brake pads that produce less dust. I believe ThunderDent is working on getting the 2013 Brembos fitted to his Q. There are other options but really depends on the budget.

Good luck!

Do you happen to know if they are using different pads on the rear for the 2013 models? There is practically no dust, front or rear on mine after about 500mi. On my 2011, the fronts got really nasty in just a few days, the rears were a little better but nothing like what I'm seeing now. A very pleasant surprise! It seems like they might have gone with some low dust pads on the rear as well?

Thanks,

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about all the aftermarket pads if they're paired with the OEM rotors and I can't afford a Brembo big brake kit I'd also rather stay with OEM if possible, so I'll see what Thunderdent has to say. I am curious as to the price for the whole job.

I purchased the 2013 OEM Brembos for my 2011 2.0T.

I went with the 320mm only because I had already purchased new rotors (Adams Rotors),and there is a pretty significant lead time on getting new ones made.

Plus, I figure the new 2.0T Brembos will work like clockwork with the existing components/stock master cylinder.

The 2013 rear brakes are the same as 2009-12.

I have had some rotor issues (shaking of steering wheel when braking, etc, since I switched to the Hawk Ceramic pads). I believe Birdman had similar issues, although his were worse than mine.

So I am returning to stock setup.

*2013 Brembo OEM calipers for 2.0T
*OEM low dust 2013 Brembo pads
*Rear OEM pads
*2013 heat sheilds (they are different)

And coupling that with my new AR Rotors with Slot/Dimples that are made to the 2.0T specs.

The new Brembo calipers should arrive in a week or so (coming from Germany), then I'm getting them installed after painting to match the rears.

I figure my stopping power will go up with these due to better one-piece calipers/pads, slotted rotors, and stainless steel brake lines.

If I had it to do over, I'd have gotten the 3.2/3.0T rotor size, then purchased the matching 3.0T Brembo brakes.

But it'll still be sweeter than what I have...

Total bill (discounted site) comes in at about $2800 without the rotors.

Each new Brembo caliper (2.0T at least) lists for $1500 each, but you can get them for $1200+ online.

There aren't tons of choices out there for the Q5.

Only ones I know of are:

OEM 2.0T Brembo
OEM 3.0T Brembo
*OEM SQ5
*OEM RS4/5 kit

Aftermarket:
*STaSIS (Alcon)
*Brembo GT kit

The last 4 (*) are well over $4-5K adds. I'm not sure if the 3.0T calipers are more expensive than the 2.0T OEM's are.

Hope this helps.

Here are the part numbers needed (without Rotors) for the 2.0T setup (320mm):

Brembo Front Brake Caliper, left -- * 8R0 615 107
Brembo Front Brake Caliper, right -- * 8R0 615 108
Audi OEM/Brembo brake pads/Brake Lining -- * 8R0 698 151 D
Brake Pad Sensor/Sender (Driver’s front only/Left) -- * 8R0 615 121 A
Rotor Cover Plate/Heat Shield (Left) -- * 8K0 615 311 H
Rotor Cover Plate/Heat Shield (Right) -- * 8K0 615 312 H
Rotor Screw (Right and Left) -- * N 106 483 01 x2
Splash Shield Screw (Right and Left) -- * N 107 414 02 (x2)
Carrier Mount Bolt (Right and Left) -- * N 911 476 01 (x2)

The Rotors & brake lines are the same as previous model years if you don't want to swap them.

ThunderDent: thanks for your reply. So it seems the only way the 2013 pads/rotors will fit our 2011-12 2.0T is if we purchase the 2013 calipers and heat shields too? Those calipers are more expensive than I thought, so I need to look in a different direction.

Also want to confirm: you don't have to change your rear parking brake motor right?
