Default 2015 Audi Q5 Tdi

Hello Everyone!

I’m currently looking at a 2015 Q5 TDI with 64,000 miles. This will be my first audi vehicle, had a 2011 golf TDI previously and loved it but don’t know much about the V6 TDI and it’s reliability.

Is it a bad move to purchase one of these with that many miles already? For those of you who own one, what are your honest opinions? Any problems with higher mileage? Should I be concerned about the vehicle value due to the diesel gate scandal?

I appreciate any help in advance!

64K miles on a diesel is nothing...there's PLENTY of life left in that engine...plus it'll be covered till 120K miles, due to the TDI coverage through AoA.

I have 43K miles on my 2015 Q5 TDI. Only had it 2 months now and I didn't have it before the "fix" so I can't comment on that. But I can say that so far I really love it. I love how it has lots of power on reserve when you need it yet it can be driven conservatively at other times and gets great mileage. Last couple of calculated tanks are about 31 mpg! I came from the A4 world though and what I am not crazy about is the body roll when you throw it into a turn. I have an upgraded rear sway bar and links on order which I hope will help with that. Otherwise its a great vehicle!

I have a 2015 TDI unfixed with 85K miles, mostly highway. Not one single problem and average 38mpg during the hot months. Best powertrain I ever had. I'd go for it at the right price. They haven't recovered yet from diesel gate, until people realize there's nothing else out there like it.

Thanks for the replies! 👍

Makes me feel better that you guys have had good success with them. The dealership is asking $28,500 for it. I’m sure I could probably get them down a little, it’s a premium plus non S-Line model. Carfax shows it as one owner with all routine maintence recorded. I’m assuming the majority of the miles are highway on it since it’s above 60k.

Been searching for an SUV for weeks now and there doesn’t seem to be anything like the Q5 TDI for a balance of performance/luxury/efficiency.

How has the emissions fix been for you guys? Is there a way to tell if it has been fixed during a test drive? Does it affect anything negatively? I live In Florida so I don’t think emissions will be an issue.

Most folks are happy. There was a small loss of MPG when the vehicle is cold. There are a few unhappy with the acceleration and higher reving until engine is warm.

Test drive the vehicle. I'm sure it is OK.

Yeah honestly I can't think of another vehicle at any price that is as versatile as the Q5 Tdi.Mine is at 200k kms.and all I've done is brake pads.I tow a lot.3rd Audi and by far the best.I'll run her to 500k and still be enjoying it I'm sure.

Get it. I have the exact same year and version. It has been really great. I am at ~81k, had the fix done and it is no different post-fix.
