2015 Q5 - 2.0 8 Speed Transmission Fluid Change ( Cross Brace)?
I am a new proud owner of an Audi Q5 2.0 L 8 Speed. I have been doing all the maintenance myself ie ...oil change - tire rotations - spark plugs - Coolant Change. Next I want to change the transmission fluid because I am near 60,000 miles. I have not looked at the transmission pan yet but when researching the procedure in All Data is shows a cross brace and the need to mount a transmission jack brace for support. Does anyone know if this is actually needed to take off the transmission fluid pan. If I cannot get the pan off I will plan to just do a fluid drain and fill. Thanks in advance for any help!

I haven't found any guides yet. I used the Google and a lot of DSG stuff but not the 8 speed one. I am just going to have "StopSign" come to KC and change mine after he completes his. That will be so much easier than me doing it.

lol you may regret that. I’ll be “home” in a few months to Fayetteville, AR; perhaps I’ll drive and, if I make it, we know it worked out. Always happy to wrench for a decent meal and good beer.

I found out than removing the transmission fluid pan this is a much bigger job than I expected. You have to take off a cross brace ( covers the pan) and then remove the transmission mount ( 2 large pieces). Also have to order new bolts on the transmission mounts because they cannot be reused. Here is a good video to watch. I think I decided to just do a drain and fill twice and forgo taking down the pan. I may do this at 100,000 miles

Ignore my last comment.
I just re-read your last comment.
And watched the video.
So on a Q5 2.0 you have to remove the transmission cross brace and mount?
Not as straight forward as I thought either.
Might seek help on that one.
Thanks for looking it up.

Takes about 4 quarts drain and fill. You are supposed to have the trans temp between 140° and 160°F measured on a tool like VCDS to get the exact correct amount of fluid. Must be very level as well. Think a lift or (4) equal height ramps on a level floor.

Thanks
Thank you for responding.
Wife’s car has 95 thousand miles so felt a filter change would be in order.
Slight delay initiating gears here and there.
Fluid change might do something but felt the pan and filter change would be good to do too.
Wasnt aware of having to remove mounts and supporting the trans before I read this thread.
Will definitely put on a lift either way.
Thanks again.
