to replace if damaged. I just saw the price on the latest Audi ETKA pricing update.
So if someone just gives you a love-tap backing into a parking space and cracks your headlights, this is what it will cost.
Now everyone wonders why their insurance rates are very high...................

Why not just keep all the LEDs on all the time? Is it because there is some legal limit as to how many lumens can be output, so it needs to be directed? Or is it because they can output more lumens without causing glare, and so they give a brighter result by not pointing directly at an oncoming car?

New technologies are often very expensive before they become mainstream.
Being limited in use, I'm not sure they contribute that much to high insurance rate.

The 2018, Q5, standard Xenon headlights are $4200 a pair!
I have both a 2014 Q5, and a 2014 Honda CRV. The 2014, Q5 headlights are $3200 a pair, the CRV's are $500 a pair!!!
Tell me where the differences are to justify the higher priced Audi parts.

More limited production?

Most older Honda headlights are translucent and yellowed.
More costly UV resistant resin hardly justifies the price difference.

That's good to know. I guess I never really noticed but have to keep my eyes open for 10+ year old Audi's.

And Audi is not covering them under warranty.......
So if my 2014 Honda CRV headlights turn foggy and yellow, it costs me $500 to replace them. A few bolts and they are out
My 2014 Audi Q5 headlights are crazing from the inside due to lousy costly UV resistant resin, that will cost me $3200 to replace them.
The front bumper, and many other parts need to be removed to replace the Q5 headlights!!!

Don't get me started! The sun visor clip on my Q5 was $60, same part on my Mazda, $0.75. Same Chinese injection moulded plastic.
