Advice on 2011 Q5 purchase
I used to have an 09 TTS that i had receiced a lot of great advice from this forum. I sold it after 2 years with just too much nervousness of expensive issues in the future especially since it was fully tuned. So now my wife is interested in a Q5 2011 with 65000 premium plus. Do I need to worry about reliability issues as the miles roll on. She has an Infiniti Fx35 06 now and it has been extremely reliable up to 190000 with only a couple wheel bearings gone bad. I did some searching and saw talk about timing chain issues and oil consumption. I am all ears to any advice you guys have to offer. Thanks,

Yes, 2011, 2.0T Q5's are very prone to oil consumption, where the pistons/rings, and maybe the engine block, will need to be replaced (costs?). Also the timing chain tensioners go bad to where the valves hit the pistons (about a $7K repair at the dealer).
Both of these issues are covered by Audi but there are time and mileage constraints so look them up. If I was buying a used Q5 I would definitely look at a 2013, and the US 2014+, 2.0T, Q5 came a with a new improved 2.0T which don't seem to have many internal issues, if any.

This ^^^
Make yourselves a favor and aim to a 2013+ or even a 3.0, early 2.0 TFSI are quite problematic (I own one).

Thanks for all the input and advice guys. My wife wasn't all that excited about the interior color and was even not sure about the size coming from the fx35. So it looks like we are going to pass on this particular Q5 at least. If the Q5 is on her short list I will steer towards a newer version or at least stay away from the older 2.0.
