I have the Kuat aluminum, two-bike rack with factory hitch. With two bikes loaded it tilts down such that I can open the hatch easily. What I like about this rack is I don't need to leave it on my Q5. It's so light I can easily attach it and the bikes in 5-6 minutes. I have taken it on a 2500+ mile trip with two bikes so I know it's stable and reliable.

I have the Audi towing package an I use the Thule Apex 9027 which holds 4 bikes. I do a lot of MTB and that rack gets loaded multiple times per week year round. You do need to swing release it and swing it away (can do fully loaded) to open the rear hatch.

I have a bunch of friends who have the Kuats and really like them as well.

There is a third option worth looking at, MWE Racks: http://www.mweracks.com/
