Audi dealer WANTS our Q5 Hybrid - ???
We’ve been bombarded with offers from our Audi dealer to trade in our 2013 Q5 Hybrid for a 2018 Q5 over the past several weeks. Their persistence is remarkable.
Anyone know why? Their trade-in offer isn’t that good, and we just bought a Tesla MX so I’m not really interested.
Or, is there some looming problem (paranoid mode engaged) with our Q5 such that Audi is trying to get them off the road without raising too much fuss?

Steppen:
it's called a:
come-on
come-on
1 :something (such as an advertising promotion) intended to entice or allure
2 :a usually sexual advance
The dealership has no sincere interest in your car.

I get similar offers for my Q5 TDI. Believe me that these dealers really don't want a trade-in of the Q5 TDI, at least not until after the fix is done, and demand is strong. It is a sales come-on.

+3. Sales come on. Since we have one, yep a very specialized niche vehicle as they go. I don't sense huge demand for it though either. Remains an unknown in the outside world. Once in while someone asks me about it, in random places like a Lowe's parking lot.
Dealers just want to turn inventory, old and new. I used get the same stuff on my 2006 D3 A8, used to get it on our now 55K mile 2013 Q5 (seems to have fallen off list recently), and figure I will get it on the 2015 S8. Actually just got an email blurb today from that S8 selling dealer offering their current incentives. Yep, save $1100 or whatever it was. Never mind the 10-20% depreciation bath on most Audis (and most competitors too) almost as soon as they leave the lot. I try not to ride down that steep part of the price bath curve much, ideally buying part way down on a late model CPO anyway. Sort of...like the Q5 now...

Yeah, when it is "We need more sales!" time, many dealers just take 15% off the CarMax price for your car (which is around book value) and then send out gobs of mail. We get special offers for trade-ins and service discounts on cars that have been *gone* for over 5-10 years. Throw enough (ahem) at the walls and some of it sticks.
But in the interest of "Two can play that game" you can always drive in, and tell the guys you are SO GLAD they contacted you, because you're really tired of this bus and you're thinking of an R8, what colors are in inventory? And could we take that for a test ride?
Write your own rules, have fun when you play the game.

Dealer makes 5-10% on the sale of a new vehicle unless they can pad it with financing dealer installed options etc.Used car sales they can bag upwards of 30%.Hence their love of trade-ins combined with a new sale. Capitalism at work.

I get those offers on my 17' Q7 and our 14' Cadillac CTS. It's just a way for them to boost there new car sales.
Believe it or not there is a shortage of quality used cars under 5yrs old. People aren't turning over there cars over like they use to. There are some articles floating around.
