Bluetooth dropping multiple times a day 2014 MMI

Heya all,

Anyone having an issue with Bluetooth dropping multiple times a day on the 2014 MMI?

I have only had this happen in my new SQ5... both courtesy cars I have had (Allroad and A8L) have not had a problem. I do conference calls constantly throughout the day and take a lot of those while in my car, so this is a big issue.

Not having this problem

I don't have the same problem. Perhaps try different family member phones, in different geographic areas. Is the problem the phone or perhaps the cell tower coverage vs. ascribing it to Bluetooth? just a thought.

Sometimes a hard reboot of the phone will correct it. If not, deleting the Bluetooth profiles in the MMI and phone and starting over with a fresh pairing might solve the issue.

I have a Blackberry and had the same problem as well. The problem was solved by placing the phone in front of the gear shaft and not in my shirt pocket..
Hope this helps

So I have actually isolated it to my new iPhone 5S 64gb... happening with the A8 loaner car as well. Tried the reboot... we will see.

Would suck to have to replace the iPhone as I got it from best buy and they don't stock that size in store.

Don't mean to hate on the blackberry lovers.

But it's the phones fault and not the car. Blackberry phones have filmware issues, especially the older ones.

I've had 3 iPhones. 3, 4 and 5 models and have been using Bluetooth for the past 5 years in all my Audis.

No problems with me.

Correct, but...

Having posted on literally dozens of these threads across several boards, indeed the issue is usually the phone. For starters they are subject to constant drops, getting sat on, jostled, whatever. Nonetheless, either directly or by inference many of the posts suggest the vehicle side is the likely problem.

Probably the majority of posts I’ve seen where bluetooth problems pop up are for iPhones actually; seem to be a fair correlation with Audi owners. And indeed, my bluetooth crapped out along the way on my iPhone 4—would drop calls after a minute or so. But I isolated it to mine since other family members had no issues. Got the 5 and end of problems there.

Net, none of the brands are immune, and none are immune to physical or electronic issues. But as usual, yes correct point to think problem with phone side typically, rather than with vehicle.
