bought new (used) Q5 today. 2015 55K miles
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...e13266f791.jpgPicked up a Q5 today. This will be my 9th consecutive Audi (4000,4000,5000,V8,A8,a6 Avant, A8, S6/V10). Love the car but surprised it doesn't have some basic items like navigation and backup camera. I'm going to get a $99 GPS with a bluetooth backup cam and hope that works. Also, I will be adding a Draw-Tite trailer hitch but have worries about how to do the wiring harness. Has anyone done a nice job of mounting the wiring plug so I don't have to pull the wire out of the trunk?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions. Joe |
Per the 2014 Q5 brochure, neither the navigation or the parking system w/ rear view camera is not available the Premium base trim level. Those items started with the Premium Plus trim. I installed the OEM trailer hitch, which included the electrical module interface, on our 2014 Q5. But I had to have the dealer code the module since I couldn't use VCDS to do so. The OEM hitch is essentially a Plug 'n Play installation, so I don't know how the Draw-Tite hitch will interface with the Q5's electrical system.

There are 2 types 13 and 7 pole. 13 pole has more options than 7 pole.
I got an aftermarket 13 pole which was plug and play + can be coded by Audi (same SVM as original) or by VCDs. I have done the installation alone one day after hitch installation, without removing bumper. Took me 30 mins to install harness, box control unit and 13 pole connector. |
Great color - Is it Daytona Gray? How much shopping did you do before deciding on this one?
If you don't mind -how much? |
