Car wont start - P0506 00 [101] - RPM Lower than Expected
2012 Q5 Premium 2.0T
Went to start the car this afternoon and it started to shake violently. I shut it off and tried to restart it, but it wont turn over. Battery reads 12.4v and the car cranks just wont start. After scanning it that's the only engine code that came up. Tried clearing it, but it came back immediately. There were a couple other codes, but I don't think they are related. If I knew how to post the log without making a wall of text I would. Any suggestions? Google wasn't much help.

It's the classic tensioner failure description. Sometime in MY 2012, Audi switched to the new tensioner. I'd bet yours had the older one that has been failing.

Heard back from the shop today with a small update. No compression, which leads them to believe something with the valve train is out of wack. Wont know for sure until they dig in deeper. But could very much likely be the tensioner.

The tensioner most likely failed, it usually happens when you first start the car, the timing chain jumps a few teeth, the pistons hit the valves and bends them, thus no compression. The fix at an Audi dealer is usually $7K+..........
