Don't panic, Audi has been fixing many of these out of warranty. Original owners with service records have done the best from reading the forums and speaking with dealers. Non-original owners with no service records have fared not so well. Good Luck!

I bought the car in january and haven't had it serviced yet. It was just about due for its 45k service.

So, four weeks later I finally get the car back from the shop and it's not as bad as I was expecting but still hurts. All that was damaged outside of the tensioner were all of the intake valves. None of the exhaust valves or pistons were damaged. Roughly $2900 for parts and labor.

Now how would I go about asking Audi for help? I hope they are feeling generous, the work wasn't done at a dealer.

If the work wasn't done at the dealer then your chances of Audi compensating you are very slim to none.

That'a the thing I don't get. It still broke, why does it matter where the work was done to fix it?

Your Q5 is out of warranty, an authorized Audi dealer didn't perform the repair, and you want corporate Audi to compensate you for something that is no longer covered under warranty, but they may have worked with you on covering a portion of the costs if you would have had the dealer handle the repair.

It doesn't cost to ask for compensation now from AOA.

Save your receipts. If this flaw is settled some day in a class action lawsuit you will be reimbursed even if you sold the car.

Anything would help. I've exclusively owned Audi my whole life and still drive my 02 TT daily. This kinda puts me off on buying another.
