Thanks Reggie. This is exactly what I needed. It seems easy enough.

I just have a few questions:

a) You mentioned that the wheel was stuck due to rust. I have a feeling I will have the same problem since I can see some rust. Is there any special tricks to get it off? WD40?
b) You mention to put 'perpendicular pressure on the wheel', do you mean pushing the socket into the wheel while torquing?
c) Is this the right thread for the wheel alignment stud - 14x1.5 Thread?

Sorry for the dumb question it's my first time so I don't want to cause any damage/accidents.

Thanks again.

a.Mostly rust between the hubcentric and the wheel. I have used in the past a 2x4 placed against the inside of the wheel and a sledge hammer in the worst case. Sometimes just using the wood as a leverage against the floor works.

b. apply pressure on the socket with one hand and then leverage on the wrench at a 90° angle to the socket.

c. I believe that is the correct one for Audis: http://www.ultimategarage.com/wheelhgr.html

I should also add that I put antisieze on the wheel bolts. There are a lot of people who believe that is not right and that one should only clean the threads and not use antisieze as it will lead to incorrect torque. One should make up their own mind on this and I like to give people all the data.

Appreciate the info Reggie.

Didn't even know that wheel sockets existed! It's a good idea. Off to look for some now...

Thanks again.

If a wheel is stuck to the hub you can break the bolts loose and back off at least 1 full thread. Then drop the weight of the car on the wheel and it will come loose. I prefer to just kick the side of the tire next to the floor. It will usually pop loose easily.

I'll check the torque in the manual and post it here.

You guys might already know but if you guys ever need a wheel hanger/lug bolt guide, the dealership (at least mine does) refers to them as tommy bars.

Don't think I saw this mentioned, but there should already be an oem wheel hanger included in your toolkit.
