This is to share my finding that can help others. We have a 2015 Q5 TDI that came with T-Mobile.
Today I called Audi Connect (888-545-9434). When I reached the T-Mobile option (3) the cost is $25/moth, a yearly program (about $200) and another for 3 (under $400). I then pressed 2 which bought me tATT option.
They agreed to mail me a SIM card for free and instructed me to go to dealer to get my MMI updated for ATT. The cost for service would be $10/month if minutes are shared with cell phone or $20/month for unlimited.
Following their instructions, I then went to dealer who did not know about this but agreed to make appointment to update our software at no cost.
Will report back back when it's all installed.

Dealer updated MMI to ATT and installed ATT SIMM card. Activated it via Audi Connect.
It all all works well.
Will evaluate usage to determine whether to stay with $10/mo plan or go to $20/mo plan.

Since MY2014/15 MMI modem already supported the 3G bands for AT&T, no update would be needed for an AT&T sim to work.

So, any inexpensive solution for MY2012 owners? Modem upgrade is not worth it for me.
I had TruPhone, but as everyone found out earlier this year, it stopped working. Looking for a cheap pre-paid service to do Google searches for destinations only (don't care for news, gas prices, Google Earth).
Thanks

Has anyone purchased a FreedomPop card via ?
I've currently got my 2015 SQ5 set up through AT&T as a 4th "phone" in our Family Plan, but it's costing me ~ $19.50/month ($15 + taxes). I have only used it a handful of times so I'd rather not have the monthly expense. If I went with FreedomPop, are there any charges other than the $10 SIM card? Charge for activation, for not using it enough, etc.? It just seems like a strange business model to give out "free" data, even if it's limited to 200MB/month. That amount should be fine with me, I'm just worried there's a bunch of hidden charges I'm not seeing.
Thanks,
-Brett.

Sorry, maybe I shouldn't mention it since you already ordered it... 😳 Best Buy has the FreedomPop - Global 3-in-1 SIM on sale for $0.99. Some stores even have them in stock.
