Thanks for all the great info guys
Just hooked it up on my 2016 Q5 took a few tries but got it to work.
I found that freedompop.foggmobile.com did not work
but the fp.com.attz worked just fine. Space in user name, put a space in the password, but it really does not retain it.
It also connected to Audi connect so everything looks great.
I also played with the MMI while I was sitting there, it was a thunderstorm outside, so I checked the weather. I scrolled down and for the first time realized that the weather display had a weather radar map display. You learn something new everyday.

I installed a FreedomPop Global SIM card in my 2013 Q5 with the original modem using bhaney's (Brett) instructions above. Works. Thanks for the help.
FreedomPop does not have the Global Sim cards in stock. You have to buy one from a third party. The Global Sim card connects to T-Mobile. This is the only FreedomPop SIM card that will work in My car.
FreedomPop currently stocks an LTE SIM card. It connects to AT&T. Will not work in my car. I don't know if this card works in newer cars with newer modems.
