Cheap Sim Card and Plan for Audi Connect

May 2018 update. First time poster but having been reading here for awhile. Just wanted to give an update that I was able to get the FreedomPop 3 in 1 LTE Sim Card working in my 2015 S4.
Card came activated from FreedomPop and I got it for 1c. It came about 4 days after ordering.
Here is what I used to get it working:
Phone menu
Data Settings
APN: fp.com.attz
username- click the space key once
password - click the space key once
Google Earth, Search, and Audi Connect options all are working.

Just tried this morning with a Google Fi sim, 2018 Q5 Prestige. I literally only tried popping it in, saw "Google Fi" in the lower right corner, but still am getting the captive portal and 'your subscription has expired'. Haven't tried mucking with any settings or OBD/etc.

even with the OBD mod.. for our 2018, it still does not provide us with any place to enter the APN/etc.

What user name and password did you all use? I put in a space in both fields and tried doing a google search. No luck. I've a 2014 SQ5.
I just activated the freedom pop sim online with the free 200mb plan.

im not sure why not working for you. Double check your settings. Sometimes it takes a little time for system to upload new data...?

I previously used freedompop.foggmobile.com which did not work.

Is there an alternative to using the FreedomPop Global Data-only SIM?
Doesn't seem like the LTE version will work in the 2013 Q5s, and the Global Data-only SIMs are no longer available on their site...

Ok so I figured out the solution.
The 2013 Q5s need the Data-only GSM cards. The Talk/Text/Internet GSM cards do not work. Neither do the LTE cards. I managed to find a Data-Only GSM card for $35 on Amazon... pricier than the other options, but I think google earth is worth it.
I spoke to FreedomPop customer support, and they indicated to me that their GSM cards are moving over to "another national service provider" and they told me to use a different APN and Username than previously.
The new setup process for the Data-Only GSM cards is below:
- APN: freedompop.foggmobile.com
- Username: FreedomPop
- Password: Blank. Either leave it as it is or enter the password editor and press space once.
- Return to previous menu
- Enable Data Roaming
This worked today for my vehicle.
