Default Cooling fluid in windshield washer tank

Hi,

On my 2012 Q5 (2l petrol) I accidentally put engine Cooling fluid in windshield washer tank... about 2.5 liters, what do you guys recommend? I think if I get it to the dealership they will charge me big time. I of course still didn't use the washer...

thanks for your help!

Siphon all the coolant out of the washer tank. Then fill it with water, pull the hose where it feeds the washer nozzles and put in in a clear jug. Run the pump until the fluid comes out clear (make sure that the wipers will not hit the hood with it open, I've never tried it). Then siphon out the water and fill with the "blue stuff". Not a big deal, just don't run the coolant through the washer nozzles because it will make a mess on the windshield and worse, it'll damage your paint. Good Luck.

As said before. Just undo the hose coming off your washer fluid tank and put it in a bucket. Run it until it's just about empty and then add some water. keep running the pump until it comes out clear. Drain most if not all of the water. Then reattach the hose, fill washer tank and test for leaks. Also run both front and rear sprayers to make sure the right colour comes out (and isn't water anymore too). If you become worried about coolant on your paint, just hose down the car after.
