Default Custom exhaust for 2.0t

Here's my custom exhaust plan for my 2.0t. Remove both Secondary silencers and Primary silencer. Then replace the Center silencer with a Magnaflow muffler. Add two 3.5" or 4" tips.

I hope it's not going to be too loud. Let me know if someone here has a similar setup and how it sounds.

if you have a nice clean break point, you can always go back to stock....
the sound will be predicated on which mufflers you use....

honestly, I wouldn't replace three with three - just use one good quality flow thru muffler...

you can always add the secondaries later if it's too loud...

what we were looking for is just a bit more 'rumble' (well as much a rumble as you can get out of a four cylinder ) when we replaced the two rear silencers

I'm looking for more HP with minimal noise.

In any vehicle I've ever modified, exhaust changes improved HP almost insignificantly....

For tuned diesels, I did it to get more exhaust flow and lower egt's,
for gas vehicles, I did it for sound only and let the tuning add the HP

If HP is the aim, I would go with ECU upgrade first... but if you are worried about the TD1 flag, then intake/exhaust seems to be the natural choice but will come with more sound (whether it is too much or not will be subjective/personal taste).

At best you may pick-up 5-7 HP at high RPM's. IMO, this wouldn't be enough to justify a change.

As stated by D_Frost, ECU upgrade would net the best results but first research the TD1 flag as it would void the powertrain warranty.

Yes APR ecu upgade is part on the mod plan. But I'll wait after my warranty expires.

I agree somewhat with this if the Gas engine is a NA Motor. But for turbo engines you are going to see a good increase in HP if you go with a larger diameter piping. Most turbo applications run a 3" or more for better flow and increased power.

For the 2.0t I'm not sure what the factory piping is but if you increase the pipe size by a half inch and do lose some of those mufflers you will see an increase in power and I don't think it would be too loud. I designed the system that is on my track car myself and had it built to spec so I do know a little about exhaust systems. There are ways you can correct the loudness if it is too loud for your liking without robbing any power. If you have any further questions you can Pm me and I point you in the right direction.
