This is actually my least favorite thing about my Q. The center console shifts forward and backward constantly. Wish there was a way to lock it in place. Surprised no one else is annoyed by this. (LOVE almost everything else!)

You're spot on with this. I've resigned myself to it--but--not what one expects from 'German' engineering. I also agree though--there is so much to like about this car that a few minor annoyances don't determine the bottom line. Much as I've tried to locate it (and purchase it over two decades) the 'perfect' car for me at least has not been manufactured and likely won't be. Therefore it comes down to pluses and minuses. On that scale the Q5 is a superior vehicle.

I have the little cubby slide-out shelf in the Glove for the IPod, and it works great! I ordered the IPod Interface separately...so I wonder if that changes the Glove configurations?

I used to have the same(ish) center console on my 2007 Jetta, and l love it! But mine doesn't slide around...it's very tight!

It did not slide as much when we first got the Q5 but now it slides way to easy. I hope to have service inspect it soon to see if something got stripped.
