Default Help! About to buy Q5..How does iphone work with system?

Looking at new Q5 2.0. I have a iphone 4s.

I wanted to know how well the phone connects to the system. Does it import contacts?

Can you make a call using your voice and the steering wheel button?

Does an incoming call show on nav screen? MID screen? Is it announced?

Can you use steering wheel button to send texts or update calendar? Thank you so much!!

I've had 5 Audis. Had an I phone 3 that I got in 2008, then the 4 and currently have an iPhone 5.

No problems for me. Each phone seems to only getter better.

"Can you use steering wheel button to send texts or update calendar? "
Now really, how would one button be able to send, create, save, or do anything else to texts and calendars, that require more input than one button can provide?

The base "radio" in the car can connect to phones with Bluetooth but you don't get the same range of functions that the full nav/telematics upgrade package gets you. Which still may not do what you want.

Your best bet is to visit the dealer and see exactly what does and doesn't work, because even Audi-US isn't very familiar with the systems.

I have iphone 5S and MMI + Nav. Not sure about non-nav
You'll see your contacts on the MMI and MID display. Searchable too.

Yes you can make calls via voice and the scroll wheel.

Yes calls are displayed on both MMI and mid displays.

No you can't do anything else but call people with the steering wheel.

Please tell me you are considering more than just the cell phone interface when purchasing this kind of car.

You can use Siri to send texts and calendar updates. You have to manually engage Siri, but then you can use your Q5's speakers and mic to do the rest of the interaction.

No this is just one option I want to figure out exactly how it works. Thank you for your replies, I am so thankful. This explains it perfectly.

I can use the steering wheel to start a voice command to make a call or answer it seems. Will see incoming calls as I thought on nav and MID.

Good to hear I can push my home button on my iphone to access Siri, then simply use the car speakers to finish the process (ie sending a text).
This is a good workaround because the other vehicle I am looking at is the X3 which has Siri Eyes Free.
