Default HELP! NEWLY POWDER COATED WHEELS CARE

Had oem (2018 20") wheels powder coated glossy black. Problem. After carefully lightly polishing wheels I see light scratches. How do I correct,& what can I use on wheels to maintain w/o scratching? Appreciate help. Thx.

Unfortunately shiny black shows more imperfections than most any other color. Rubbing and polishing compounds have abrasives of varying grit that can leave swirls/scratching, particularly in sunlight so the remedy will depend to some extent on the polish you originally used. That said powder coat is still a paint product and you could start by hand applying a finishing product with very fine abrasive such as Meguiar's Ultra Finishing Polish and when satisfied, apply a good paste wax, even one with an extremely mild abrasive such as Meguiar's Mirror Bright Polishing Wax. It's doubtful you have damage that can't be minimized or even eliminated with proper products and some additional elbow grease.

Good advise. PC guy is going to redo next week & clear coat as well. His idea. No additional $$. How can I refuse?

Powder coat is usually a fairly thick and soft plastic, while clearcoat is a hard stiff finish applied over painted metal panels. Doesn't sound good to me, you might want to check with the folks who make it. Also, clearcoat is designed to bond to paint--not powdercoat. So it might have adhesion problems down the line.

Powdercoat is a soft finish.

There is a clear powdercoat, had it done on my wheels after the initial Anthracite powdercoating was done. If you had automotive paint clear put on you're going to have issues.
